Juan Ignacio Díaz, President and CEO of the International Copper Association, and Paola Cifuentes, Legal Manager of AngloAmerican Chile, visited Barros Silva Varela & Vigil to discuss local and global challenges facing the copper industry with a group of clients and special guests.

Díaz, who played ‘a central role in the United States' decision to ultimately exclude refined copper products from a new tariff it intended to impose on copper imports, thereby benefiting all Chilean exports to that country,’ according to La Tercera, spoke at our office about the efforts and arguments that led him to present his case to the top mining official in the White House.

Paola Cifuentes addressed the need to tackle challenges collaboratively, highlighting the Memorandum of Understanding between Codelco and Anglo American for the development of the Andina-Los Bronces mining district.

Roberto Lewin moderated the conversation on industry opportunities, geopolitical challenges, and the lessons to be learned from this matter.
